Disciples
In March of 2003, the following students became disciples of Sifu Genie Parker during a ceremony at the
Ann Arbor Academy presided over by Grandmaster Eddie Wu Kwong Yu.
Ellen Schwartz
March 2003
Ellen Schwartz, Professor Emerita of Art History, Eastern Michigan University, began studying Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan in July of 1995. In March of 2003 she was accepted as a disciple. Ellen continues to train at the academy in Ann Arbor under Sifu Genie, where she is a Certified Teacher, Advanced Level. She is particularly interested in form refinement and weapons forms, earning a bronze medal for her sword form at the competition in Singapore in 2017. Ellen would like to thank the Grandmaster, Sifu Genie, and everyone who has helped her along the way on this wonderful journey!

Terry Davis
March 2003
Terry Davis, Information Technology Program Manager, began his instruction in Tai Chi Chuan in 1997 in Novi, Michigan under Sifu Genie Parker. Not having pursued any other form of martial arts in the past, his original intent was to learn to reduce his overall level of stress and to gain the benefits of a healthier, more flexible body. Terry became a disciple in March of 2003.
Over the course of the past 6 years, Terry has studied the 108 Form, Broadsword Form and 54 Form with Sifu Parker, along with training in the various Push Hands forms. Terry has also had the opportunity to train for a time with Sifu Stephen Britt and attend seminars by Grandmaster Eddie Wu Kwong Yu, Sifu Britt and Sifu Parker at the Detroit and Ann Arbor Academies.
Terry looks forward to gaining a deeper understanding and practice of Tai Chi through Disciple classes and regular training sessions in Ann Arbor and Novi and hopes to be able to join one of the periodic trips to China and the various Tai Chi Academies in Southeast Asia at some point in the future.

Sarah Zettel, author, has been training with Sifu Genie Parker since 1998 and was accepted by Sifu Genie as a disciple in March 2003 at the Ann Arbor Academy.

Tim Smith, Aerospace Engineer, has trained in Tai Chi Chuan since 1998 and in March of 2003 became a disciple of Sifu Genie Parker.

Lisa Leutheuser

Lisa Leutheuser has been training Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan since August of 1998. Sifu Genie Parker accepted Lisa as a disciple in March of 2003 at the Ann Arbor Academy

Evan Leung
March 2003
Evan Leung, Consultant, started training Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan with Sifu Genie Parker in August of 2000. In March of 2003, Evan became Sifu Genie's disciple during a ceremony presided over by Grandmaster Eddie Wu Kwong Yu. After having assisted with teaching at the Ann Arbor Academy, Evan started his own class in Saline on September 11, 2004. Evan continues to train under Sifu Genie and is familiar with the 108 Square Form, 54 Competition form, Broadsword, Double edge sword, and various push hands forms.

Bob Roth

Bob Roth, New Media Manager at WEMU 89.1, began studying Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan in October of 1987. In July of 2006 he was accepted as a disciple of Sifu Genie Parker in a ceremony at the Ann Arbor Academy presided over by Grandmaster Wu Kwong Yu. Bob continues to train at the academy in Ann Arbor under Sifu Genie.

Paul Lennon

Paul Lennon, Analytical Chemist, began his training of Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan in September of 1995 in order to pursue its health and stress relieving benefits, but has learned that there is much more to the art form. He has been training in Ann Arbor under Sifu Genie Parker since the summer of 2002 and was accepted as a disciple in July of 2006. Paul is familiar with the 108 Square Form, 54 competition form, broadsword, double edge sword, and various push hands. He continues to train at the Ann Arbor Academy and assists in training others there, as well. He appreciates that there is always more to be learned about Tai Chi Chuan. Paul has been fortunate to be able to participate in trips to Asia with other members of the Wu Style Academy in 1999, 2002 and 2004. They visited other Wu Style schools in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia and had the exceptional opportunity to train with members of those schools and attend workshops led by Wu Yan Hsia and Wu Tai Sin, Grandmaster Eddie Wu Kwong Yu's aunt and uncle who have since passed away.

Marilyn Feingold
July 2006
Marilyn Feingold, Artist, began training Tai Chi Chuan in 1996 at Botsford Hospital Rehabilitation Center. She retired from her job in 1991 as a child care worker for the State of Michigan after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia and diffuse autoimmune dysfunction. In 1996, upon the recommendation of her doctor, she began training Tai Chi Chuan as a way to help control pain and maintain good joint and muscle mobility. This former Ann Arbor social worker turned landscape artist and illustrator currently resides in Livonia, Michigan.
Marilyn is currently teaching a 108 Hand Form class at Jewel Heart Tibeten Learning Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
